Seravezza is a mountain town in the province of Lucca that rises 55 meters over the sea level a few kilometres away form the Versilia coast.
It is an industrial and trading centre of Versilia, at the convergence of the Sena and Vezza rivers, at the foothills of the Alpi Apuane.
The area is that of "the marbles". From the marble-yielding basins of the Ceragiola, the Cappella di Trambiserra and the Monte Altissimo, those marbles that are famous throughout the world are extracted, along with the ones from Carrara.
The old part of Seravezza is striking; you can admire medieval parishes, genteel villas and well-preserved rustic constructions.
Since 1991, Seravezza has become the “gateway” of the Alpi Apuane Park – on the Versilia side - created in 1985. There is a Visitor’s Welcome Centre, set up by the Park Organization and the Pro Loco.
In 1975, the town of Seravezza has obtained the title of "City” with a decree from the President of the Republic.
