 From the Italian community help for Caracas’ European convicts
In Caracas, capital of Venezuela, FUSNADE, "Fundaciòn para el Apoyo y el Socorro al detenido europeo", was founded with the aim to promote financial, social, legal and sanitary initiatives and make Venzuelan population more aware of jail life problems, in order to improve inmates’ conditions.
Fusnade’s chairman, Massimo di Giammarco, currently collaborator of an Italian press agency, spent a detention period in Venezuela in 1988 and experienced first hand the abandonment and lack of communication with his family. This is why he strongly wanted the creation of this foundation.
"Fusnade" is a non profit self-founding organization, but it also tries to involve The Italian Consulate, the Red Cross and other associations operating in Caracas in its social mission.
